This character was based around the product 'Milliput'
TM: a multi purpose epoxy putty that is supplied in two rolls. Able to adhere
and bond ceramics, metal, glass, wood, plastics, cement etc, it is widely
used in the film industry and by museums as a superbly durable modelling,
sculpting and repair agent.
Clients
: Team Media and The Milliput Company.
In
order to create personality from the two rolls of putty that are mixed together...
I combined the two rolls with a hint of a cylindrical shape for the head. These
rough drawings showed the 'Milliput Man' at work repairing, modelling and scaling...
The
next stage was to create a simple animation with 'Milliput Man' evolving from
the rolls of epoxy putty. A line test in pencil, sketching 18 frames, was scanned
and sized. Some of these rough frames were changed until the movement looked
elastic.... the resulting GIF for the web is shown above.
