Designing the sets for '101 Dalmations' provided Production Designer Assheton Gorton, with his biggest challenge to date. Occupying seven of Shepperton Studio's largest stages, the task of building the enormous and elaborate sets, took an army of over 120 skilled technicians including plasterers, painters and carpenters.

With one or two exceptions, practically all filming took place on these sound stages, which included the dilapidated DeVil mansion, Roger and Anita's town house and the snow covered barn set.
